Eight friends first gathered in 1964 for what was to become an annual occurrence - The Shank City Invitational Golf Tournament. Fifty plus versions later - we still adhere to the original Mission Statement of those eight pioneers:
This event shall forever be dedicated to the sole purpose of friends gathering for a very, very good time.
The tournament is held the week following Mother's Day ( Wednesday - Friday) and we normally head to locations within eastern Washington state. We take a maximum of 44 players (eleven teams) divided by handicap into 4 groups. Teams are blind drawn (one from each handicap group) on the first night (Wednesday) after the practice round. On the first day (Thursday), we play a Scramble Format; and on the second day (Friday) we play the best two scores (where the handicap falls) within the foursome. Friday's play is followed by dinner and awarding of lap prizes (for each day) and the overall champions receive their snazzy Shank Trophies. All of this is followed by retirement to the well stocked hospitality room for continuation of the "very, very good time".
Entry Fees for the tournament include the two rounds (Scramble and Best Ball) of golf with cart and practice balls, dinner after the Best Ball round, Prize Fund, and of course, the well stocked hospitality room.
